
Doris Sorenson Garner
1936 ~ 2009
Doris Sorenson Garner, 73, passed away at her home in Orem, Sept. 12, 2009 of an infection. She was born Aug. 24 1936 in Loa, Utah to Worth and Nancy Blackburn Sorenson. She Married Dean Garner June 20, 1959 in Loa. They were sealed for eternity in the Provo Temple Oct. 22, 1986. He passed away May 9, 2002.
She graduated from BYU with a composite major in Business Education and Office Administration. She later completed her Masters degree in Education at BYU. She worked at US Steel, Geneva Works for 13 years in various secretarial and administrative positions, including administrative assistant to the vice president. She taught at UVSC from 1975-1998 when she retired. She was a member of the UVSC Faculty Senate, the Utah Business and Computer Education Association, and the National Business Association. Doris Also served as advisor of Phi Beta Lambda. She was the School of Business teacher of the year in 1996. In addition she conducted several word processing and training workshops and wrote various word processing manuals for student courses.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in various teaching and leadership positions. She also served as a temple worker at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple and was currently serving a service mission at the MTC in Provo.
She loved spending time at her childhood home in Loa and with her children, grandchildren, and great-grand children. She was a passionate Jazz fan and BYU fan.
She is survived by her 2 children Stephanie (Tracy) Lewis and Michael (Mindee) Garner both of Lehi, 9 Grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. Her Sisters and Brothers Cuma Hoopiiaina of Salt Lake City, Jackie King of Orem, Philip (Carolyn) Sorenson of Orem, and Enoch Sorenson of Bondurant, WY.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thurs. Sept. 17, 2009 at the Orem Sharon 3rd Ward Chapel, 445 S. 700 E. Family and friends may call Wed. evening, Sept. 16, 2009, from 6-8 pm at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E 800 N Orem, Utah and Thurs. morning from 11-12:30 prior to the services at the church. Internment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.

Thanks for everything you did for me. You were a great women! You always said would say "hi" to me whenever I would walk past your house. I loved when I got to interview you for our dinner we had a few months ago! I will miss you.
Thanks for saying that about my grandma. She was an amazing woman who loved everyone, not once did she ever complain about her problems she always wanted to know how everyone else was doing but never said anything concerning herself. I'll always miss her she wasn't just a grandma but my best friend. thankyou for saying something nice about her she deserves it.
